The red locomotive (EH510, "Red Thunder", dual mode AC/DC capable) is used on Japan Sea-bound freights, so the third freight in the video is heading to the Hokuriku Line. Most likely the Aomori-bound #4075... unless it was on a Sunday, the day it doesn't usually run. EF210 (DC only) was the first one that showed up, and second one in the dark going the other way was pulled by second generation EF66 (DC only), so both of those trains were Tokaido Line freights. EF210-led freight is probably the Sendai-bound #1084, and the EF66-led one is likely the Fukuoka (Kyushu) bound #1065... all information found on the 2016 edition of the JR Freight Timetable, of course. Some of you might be wondering why ALL the freights were moving, and none waiting for a signal. The EH510 diverging away from the Tokaido Line explains why it was moving the same direction with the EF210 without slowing down. Am I guessing correctly that the reason why you were at Maibara was to catch another steam excursion? Hopefully, that means another report? |
