Leading the Charge: An F Unit in Autumn
Author: ut-1

It hasn't been a picture-perfect autumn morning so far here in Upstate New York. However, the skies cleared at the right moment, illuminating fall foilage just in the nick of time, as Adirondack Scenic's Utica-Big Moose passenger train came along at a pretty good clip in Trenton, approx 18 miles north of Utica. A gentle breeze can be heard as the train nears and falling leaves add to the scene as well.

The train had three engines, with F unit 1502 at the point, and eight cars. It was heading to Thendara with Big Moose as the final destination.

The video opens with footage in Utica as the train begins its northward journey.

The closing scene suggests some trees have already lost their leaves!

That's a pretty nice video!  Thanks!  The autumn leaves
give it a wonderful feeling, and the F units is very nice.

(BTW -- I did not know that Thendara was a town in
New York state.  I had only previously encountered that
name in Marion Zimmer Bradley's "Darkover" fantasy
novel series.  I thought she made up that name -- until
I read your post.)

Very well done! After the depressing advent of fall with grey skies, rain and cold temperatures in south central PA, it's nice to be reminded that there's some beauty of fall too.

Thanks for posting.  It was well done.  Always a pleasure to see an F Unit in action.

That "F" unit looks like it has been through the wars, with a bashed left rear side...Thankfully the two RS-18's
ex-CPR look to be in fine fettle
