Thx for Sharing Date: 02/20/17 13:25 Re: 195-car CSX Q409 Author: kingman People at crossings must have been p'od not to mention how long it blocks crossings if emergency vehicles need tp pass. 2+ mile long trains are fun until they block an ambulance with your mom from getting to the hospital. This one was 3 miles long give or take

About a block south of the Main St. crossing is a bridge over the tracks that emergency vehicles can use if the crossing is blocked. The local EMS and Police are very familiar with this, so your Mom will be able to get to the hospital even if the train breaks down on the crossing. There where instances in the North Dakota oil field s where the crossings where blocked by paaing trains a mile or more long moving at 25 mph and firetrucks and rescue personal could not get to fires and accidents. There was a big stink about it they where trying all sorts of things but in essence the damn trains took to long to across the crossings.. Three and a half mile long trains like the one they tested in California are absurd much in the way 1 man crews on these trains are. > long > > give or take > > You aren't familiar with this area. Date: 02/21/17 20:43 Re: 195-car CSX Q409 Author: JLinDE I do not know the car count because I counted car lengths. There were very few long cars....longer, than a 80ft centerbeam flat in this train. My estimate is 213 car lenghts, about 10,000 feet, but could be 10,500ft, close to two miles long, not three; unless you heard a detector count or have a consist. Q300 left Wilsmere, DE on Sat afternoon with 205 cars, 13,600 feet.

That equals 2.18 miles. Date: 02/25/17 10:50 Re: 195-car CSX Q409 Author: kingman .It took 3 min and 10 seconds for the entire train to passyour camera. If itwas doing 40 mph the detector would be right but it sure doesn't look like 40 and if it was 60 mph then its 3 miles long . Whats the spped through there? how many axels did it count?
