SRS 119 gets around.  Last Saturday morning it was in Monroe, NC setting in a siding at Burke Street.  CSX Monroe Sub.

That's a very interesting coupler.  Looks almost like an old time HO train coupler.

Do the Sperry crews still live aboard their units, or are they ferried to hotels etc for the night?

I don't believe they stay onboard any more.  There was no one in this one.

i recently had the occasion to visit with one of the Sperry Trucks awaiting to do testing on the CSX.  As a long time Sperry employee he stated that the present way of working was much better than the old rail cars.   It was very interesting to say the least.  The gentleman I spoke with told me they stay in motels in different places each night depending on the amount of work they have to do.  They usually travel with the truck on the roadways until they get to the next testing location and then they get on the rails.  The gentleman I spoke with was a long time Sperry employee and he enjoys the present conditions of living over the old way.  The now enjoy a hot shower and a good meal each night.
