It was commented elsewhere that the caboose contains the controls for operating the special equipment on the train.

NYSW uses it daily...broadly speaking, good for up to 40 MPH Sparrowbush to Binghamton, 79 mph on MNRR/NJT east of Sparrowbush to Campbell Hall.

Response on NYS&W Facebook page indicates this is for the Natural Gas Power Plant being built in Wawayanda on Route 6. This is great revenue for NYSW, and especially the original MNJ line.

You're welcome and thanks for viewing. It was a fortunate opportunity since NYS&W trains do not usually transit Starrucca in daylight, let alone on a spectacularly sunny day, so rare in NEPA.

Super videos, it's not everyday you see a High & Wide, I've only seen them on video, not yet in person. Hopefully someday, but thanks to you for sharing these fantastic videos.

So, this is an NYSW train with NS power....  It kinda makes sense...NYSW would operate this train with 1 GP-38.  NS would have 2 AC-44's or some such power on this train.
Also unusual to see a schnabel and a hvy capy flat on the sam H/W move.  very cool.

That BBCX 1000 Schnabel Car and idlers passed through western Michigan on the CN on Saturday, July 23, 2016.
BBCX 1004 - BBCX1004 is used to transport the deck of the BBCX1000 Schnabel car when it is not in use.
BBCX 1002 - BBCX1002 Caboose

Great videos!

Is the ABS completely out of service between Sparrowbush and Binghamton?  If so, are the signals turned aside?  Does NS still dispatch the line - is it under Rule 171 (track authority form authorizes movements)?  Thanks.
