Night Train on Schuyler Street
Author: ut-1

Night trains are not commonplace any longer on New York, Susquehanna & Western's Utica, NY branch line. Perhaps this will change if the line ever opens south to Binghamton again. Presently, the line is out-of-service south of Sherburne to its junction with NYS&W's Syracuse branch in Chenango Forks.

Anyhow, I caught the Utica freight  last night northbound near the end of Schuyler Street's 6/10th mile street running. With the old DL&W watchman's presenting a ghostly image of railroading past, the freight is shown here passing this local railroading landmark before heading off into the night.

Nice video, good framing in the watchman's tower.  Perhaps this time of year a few more chances of night trains in the early evening.

Nice, can they blow the horn in town?

Yes, no restrictions. No "quiet hours" in Utica!

Is there anybody left in Utica to complain about the horn?

Probably hard to hear the horns over the gunshots or passed out on drugs.
