Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS Washington District....."Route of the Vulcans"Date: 04/17/15 05:03 NS Washington District....."Route of the Vulcans" Author: mp208 Recent posts have detailed the "Rockrunners".........or "Vulcans", that haul the aggregates on Norfolk Southern's lines in northern Virginia. Like a continuous conveyor belt the trains feed a distribution center in Alexandria, VA. On 4-16-15 we find ourselves trackside near Catlett, VA as the "Vulcans" do their thing.

Vulcan was founded in Alabama in 1909 as the Birmingham Slag Company, so they've been a Southern/NS customer for over 100 years. My mother worked for Vulcan in the early 1950s. Date: 04/17/15 16:04 Re: NS Washington District....."Route of the Vulcans" Author: ns1000 I like the video!!
