I would have ridden that line in 1987, although I don't recall the equipment, but it was a local train, and the cars were not new. I nearly missed Rome because the train did not stop at Termini. Had I not gotten off at Tiburtina (hastily), I would have been in Naples before I knew it! That line is now high-speed and has great service. The longest tunnel between Roma and Firenze is the first one south of Firenze, the Galleria San Donato (11,954m)(7.42 miles). |
