Auto Traffic Picking Up on 407
Author: cn6218

After a brutal winter that saw autos literally frozen in place at Autoport in Dartmouth, NS, autorack traffic has returned to normal levels, and perhaps even increased.  As Frank J. observed earlier this year, instead of receiving imports in Nova Scotia, the cars were off loaded in Rhode Island, and then came up to Montreal via NECR.

Normally, 407 would have about two dozen autoracks leaving Dartmouth, but today there were 42 on the end of the train.

The unexpected lack of sun (the day had started off sunny) was a good excuse to shoot video of the relatively short train, and try to fine tune my audio settings with the new outboard mic.  I still have a bit of work to do, but the wind noise (from the train) is far less objectionable than it has been with the camera's built-in mic.

That should make for a longer than normal 305 out of Moncton.
