Milwaukee Road electric & diesel c1973 Montana
Author: KCRW287

This post has a video of the Milwaukee Road in Montana, from probably about 1973. I think from the area of the BA&P Railroad was located. I will post more in the future as this clip was off of a 400' reel of all Milw Road. Unknown photographer, my collection, KCRW287

There's some really great video there. Remarkably smooth for hand-held and riding in a car. The locations look like everywhere from south of Cactus Junction at Vendome on the east (just upgrade from Piedmont, where Montana 41 meets US10), to Bearmouth on the west. The west stuff was largely shot from the frontage road between Drummond and Bearmouth with I-90 in the foreground.

The similar shots where the train crosses from left to right over a short pile trestle and then over a highway underpass is where US10 crossed under the Milwaukee just east of Crackerville, between Butte and Anaconda. The BA&P shots are probably at East Anaconda or Rocker. The images where the train is going away past a reddish orange building are at Nissler Junction between Rocker and Silver Bow, videoed from the I-15 bridge.

Did not appear that the track structure was in all that bad of shape.

Fantastic video and post!!!  Such a great railroad, with great history, and a well-engineered line.   So sad it's gone--really wish that management team had seen the future and kept the line.  The MILW had the best line, and best transit times, from what I've read.

That was great !  Thanks so much for sharing this footage.  Damn those dummies that scrapped my favorite railroad.
