Agree'd, nice to see the whole train.  Lots of lumber loads there - no surprise!

Looks like one of the diesels had a bad cylinder - notice the puffs of black smoke while they are in the distance rounding the corner at the start of the video.

Cheers, Jim

Based on how "fast" that train approached the East/North switch at Cascade Summit it must not have been the "usual" 8900 tons they liked to run 3x5 with, especially with that second unit having turbo issues. The trailing helper units weren't "black" either, again indicating that train came up through the tunnels at a good speed. I've seen the rear unit of a 5 unit helper be so black you can't see lettering or even the windows even after its first trip out of the roundhouse.

Usual practice was to cut the helper at the West/South switch at Cascade Summit, which it appears they did since the helpers were coming back on the siding.

Only about 55 cars or so, so small by Cascade standards

I really miss the SP!. Just curious to know if anyone can tell me what kind of tall cars were on the rear of the train before the caboose and what were they used for?

Believe they are empty Wing cars from Boeing - Seattle. Not sure where cars were loaded.

Oscillating headlight far superior to ditch lights, IMHO.

Looks like those inside the bay window cab really had a great view with the wing cars directly in front of them!   lol
Shorter train indeed.   Didnt sound like all the helpers were running.
Third unit returning helper (8303 or 8308), wonder what's scripted in white below the unit's roadnumber?
