Steam & Excursion > Short C&TS clip

This is from October of 2015. I shot it with my phone so it's a little shaky but I thought some might enjoy it.

#489 had been loading ballast in the middle of the Chama Y and has cleared up, momentarily, to let #488 turn after having helped the #463 up the hill. As the #489 moves back into position, to load more ballast, emergency vehicles show up at the crossing and the crew of the #489 hustle to get out of the way.

Incidently, there were five engines under steam this day!

Broken ring on the 488?  Really got a chirp in the exhaust.

I don't know what the cause of that was but it chirped like that all the way up the hill and back.

Would get on your nerves.  Either a broken ring or something cracked in the nozzle or exhaust system.   Only does it on one chuff.
1522 had a slight chirp if you ran it at a light throttle and had it hooked up just right.   Used to make me crazy.
