This is a scene on a new DVD I am working on. Based on Hotwater and Arlen's comments on Monday, the hogger might have used the air horn to warn inexperienced rail fans or it was requested by another filmmaker who had close ties to the crew.

for railroad signals such as calling in the flag. A really great sound!! I was at The Loop when she came through in 1984 and began to worry about possible mid-airs from all the helos flitting around... Bill Deaver Tehachapi, CA Date: 02/15/17 10:14 Re: SP 4449 rarely using her air horn in May 1984 Author: meixel That was the first time I've heard its air horn. Thank you!

There were probably 2,0000 people at the station, many of them hanging over the platform. That did get people out of the way.

honked and announced that they were getting close to Glendale. John. Date: 02/16/17 10:28 Re: SP 4449 rarely using her air horn in May 1984 Author: Auburn_Ed I grew up on the SF Peninsula. THAT'S the sound I remember the Espee for. I never heard a whistle till I rode behind the WP #94. Close your eyes and you can also visualize A-B-B-B-A F Units.
