On a sunny Saturday morning, a large group of people have come to Cumberland, Maryland to take a ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Aside from the colors of the Fall season, today's passengers will also take a step back in time with their train being pulled by a steam locomotive, WMSR's 2-8-0 #734.

While passengers are boarding, 734's crew makes the necessary preparations for the assault on the grade to Frostburg. Then 734 is seen conquering the famous Helmstetter's Curve.

This combination of steam and sharp grade is a delite to see in person.  If you are in the area
try and take advantage of the various photo charters that are available to see the engine doing
some great work.  Thanks for sharing.

Very nice.    The brush has really grown quickly at Helmstedter's curve.  This time next year we will be looking at 1309 in a fall video.  This will be a HUGE railfan mecca.
