Steam & Excursion > N&W 611 Leaving Roanoke (Drone Foaming)Date: 08/03/15 08:02 N&W 611 Leaving Roanoke (Drone Foaming) Author: tehachapi-dave Good Morning,
On the 4th of July, we see N&W 611 leaving Roanoke with the afternoon excursion to Radford. The J makes good noise leaving town with the 21 car excursion train. Enjoy! Tehachapi-TJ Over & Out. And the coach-consist behind the J on that run was also quite interesting; THREE dome cars and the Hollywood Beach (I presume) at train's end to boot! The fun never ends when a mainline steam locomotive is on the point!

I wish people could hold the camera that still when shooting their own model railroads! bluesboyst Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Boy, what was it like back in the 20's, 30's and > 40's....... Really! Can you imagine that being a common, everyday occurance? Great video! Thanks for posting for all of us West Coasters. And congrats on VOTD! I particularly got a kick out of all eager human beings on the first bridge (like a bunch of ants)!

She was the last J built in the 50's at R shops . I remember my dad taking down to the tracks to watch the old G 5's on the LIRR fly by. First time I saw one it scared me because it was big noisy and just plain fast , I ran intot he old phone booth in the train shedlol. I think I was 5 at the time , I ws just young enough to see the end of steam out here on LI and a little in Chicago and Michigan. Dirty yeah, smelly yeah but boy oh boy just brute strength , kinda like your mom when she''s really pissed off. LOL NOt the dirty and smelly part, the brute force part. Thought I ' d clarify that.
