Wildcat's surviving GP8 back to work in Martin.
Author: Paniolo_man

UTWX 1529 was disassembled late last year and it's carcass still sits next to the Martin Locomotive Shop. Last week I noticed that it's former partner 1530 was sitting behind the shop in one piece. Well today it's hard at work switching around oil cars.

Nice footage.  Good to see Martin yard still getting used.  Last time I was there the office building was mothballed.  Are the engine shops mothballed now?

I didn't know GP 8s even existed.  I'll look up the history of that A&E GP 8 when I'm at a computer.

Is there some exemption that permits switching oil cars without a buffer car?

Speaking from experience with the UP, there are very few cars that require a buffer when switching. Explosives is one that comes to mind.

Not all oil cars require buffers. If the oil is heavy and classified as Combustable you don't need a buffer. Need to check the placard.
