Western Railroad Discussion > UP 2739 (GE Tier 4) in SoCalDate: 11/25/16 21:38 UP 2739 (GE Tier 4) in SoCal Author: cchan006 ACR_Ted saw the UP 2739 in the Sonoran Desert in middle of October:
http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4144094 Two days before his post, I caught the same unit leading a westbound at Fingal, which is between Cabazon and Palm Springs. UP 2739 must have made a very quick turnaround. I'm not sure if I caught it on its maiden voyage west, but the unit looked brand new on October 17. I got an additional bonus, a CSX GE Tier 4 fourth in consist. There are three clips in the video, where I get the UP 2739 at Fingal, further west near Mons with a windmill + mountain backdrop, then near Cabazon where I compose my rental Jeep Compass in the foreground. Jeep Compass was quite capable as a "crossover" SUV, and I liked it a lot. I planned two more intercepts, at Beaumont, and somewhere in San Timoteo Canyon, but I guessed (correctly) that there'd be weekday commute traffic, so I dissed further intercepts and headed straight to the airport via I-10 to catch my flight home... and I'm glad I did. - This shot is dedicated to MacBeau, if he's still around on TO. - Approaching Cabazon. - 3 video clips of UP 2739. That's it for a quick report. You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today!
