Western Railroad Discussion > #6 over Lower Cascade Bridge near Spruce, CADate: 10/18/16 08:02 #6 over Lower Cascade Bridge near Spruce, CA Author: jkkeck During the family's reunion this past summer, I traced the remnant traces of the Emigrant Trail westward from Donner Pass, past Norden, through Soda Springs and along Kidd Lakes Road to Spruce where I caught Amtrak #6, the Eastbound California Zephyr as it crossed over the Lower Cascade Bridge. Pulling loaded wagons up and over the Pacific Crest was difficult, but getting loaded wagons down the 500-foot drop from Kidd Lake to the Yuba River here in the vicinity of Spruce was likely a tough job too.

Thanks for posting it here. (Native Californian, and huge SP fan, but never heard of either Kidd Lakes or the Caccade Bridge.) Date: 10/22/16 08:44 Re: #6 over Lower Cascade Bridge near Spruce, CA Author: tviano I've been up there but never dropped down to Spruce. Were you driving or hiking?
