Western Railroad Discussion > Santa Fe Blue & Yellow, caboose on today's Pasadena Local...Date: 10/06/15 16:48 Santa Fe Blue & Yellow, caboose on today's Pasadena Local... Author: PasadenaSub I got a headsup from TO member TC this morning that today's Pasadena Local had a standard-cab GP60 on the point heading west from Kaiser Yard towards Irwindale. I met up with Tim where the train was stopped in San Dimas. We also got pictures in Glendora and Azusa. Here's a few from this morning/afternoon.
1-2) The local with about 10 cars, all covered hoppers except for the tank car behind the power. Since this didn't look like one of the usual corn sweetener tank cars for Miller Brewing in Irwindale, Tim speculated it was for the customer down the same spur to the southwest of Miller, which is probably also the reason for the caboose due to the long backup move. 3) Caboose ATSF 999708 was on the rear today, though now tagged on one side. Date: 10/06/15 16:49 Re: Santa Fe Blue & Yellow, caboose on today's Pasadena Local... Author: PasadenaSub 4) Another look at GP60 160, which has recently been renumbered from the 8700-series (former ATSF 4000 series) by BNSF.
5) On to Glendora, where we thought we'd shoot the signal just to the east of the cantilever for a change - though the shadows are a challenge here. 6) And the caboose underneath the cantilever Date: 10/06/15 16:50 Re: Santa Fe Blue & Yellow, caboose on today's Pasadena Local... Author: PasadenaSub 7-8) And on to Azusa, where the slow running train allowed us to get ahead to the old depot for another opportunity.

That was the case last Friday which surprised me.

Ronda Thomas Date: 10/07/15 07:47 Re: Santa Fe Blue & Yellow, caboose on today's Pasadena Local... Author: ntharalson IIRC, this caboose had been hevily vandalized, i.e. lots and lots of grafitti. So it's good to see the
BNSF repainted it. Notice, however, that it kept its Santa Fe number and reporting marks. The only "BNSF" caboose appears to be on the fire train in the PNW. Thanks for posting. Sorry, have no idea. PasadenaSub --- VERY nice photos -- AND the videos are great, too! SO nice to see BOTH Santa Fe blue and yellow AND a Warbonnet -- still both earning their keeop -- in 2015!! And they both proudly wear "Santa Fe" on their flanks. :) Nice that the BNSF repainted that caboose, but I detest them turning cabooses into "shoving pl;atforms". All cabooses should be fully functional as cabooses. -- IMO. Just my 2 cents. Long live the Santa Fe!! Date: 10/07/15 18:38 Re: Santa Fe Blue & Yellow, caboose on today's Pasadena Local... Author: Chad Great photos and video. Interesting to see the slack being taken out between the lead units.
