Last week I posted a few pictures of the CN ex DMIR ore docks at Two Harbors.

This week during my Lunch Break an ore boat showed up, so I got to watch and photograph her as she entered the harbor and negotiated her way into the slip alongside the ore dock.  It's amazing to watch that nearly 1000 foot long craft literally turn on a dime. Total elapsed time from first picture to last is 21 minutes.

With bow thrusters and stern thrusters, some of these things can literally turn on a dime with no "crabbing" - just like a locomotive on a turntable!  It is amazing to watch.

I was too far away to catch her name.

BTW, some of these "Lakers" are still steam powered, but judging by the stacks on this one I'd suspect not.  You must know, for sure, mapleglen.

I've watched these big boats come into Two Harbors while sitting over on the breakwater.  Truely awesome.  Also watching the big boats come through the Duluth lift bridge entry is impressive.
