SD45's at East Pisgah

I guess its not an everyday event to see SD45's on the Needles Sub. Especially three of them with clean paint and no graffitti.

I know the telephoto exaggerates the appearance, but WOW - does that lead motor have a bent frame or what?

Nice to see these out there. Too bad they aren't the power for the Cadiz Turn.

my guess is that this is a d-barbar returning back to Barstow after setting out a cut of cars in some siding on the needles sub (ash hill or cadiz?).  nice catch on the vid.........

Nice catch, shot, and video. Those rebuilt ex-Santa Fe SD45-2s are regulars on the Boron local.

I'm probably going to expose my ignorance her, but are those really SD-45-2's? Where is the flared radiator housing?

Only the "straight" SD45s had the flared radiator housing.  However, these are not true SD45-2s, either.  They have been rebuilt with a 16-cylinder engine into a "SD40-2R".

I just checked the Santa Fe diesel roster--5702 was one of ATSF's BiCentennial units.
