New Decals for 3D Central Side Slider Boxcars & More
Author: RAS

Hello All -

I've been working on decals for the 3D Central Side Slider cars and a number of other things, and they are now available on a new online store:

https://www.railtrainhobbies.com

Side Slider sets include:
  • Amador Central
  • Acrata and Mad River
  • Caffall Brothers
  • Hampton Lumber
  • Oregon Cedar
  • Plum Creek
  • Idaho Forest Industries
  • Louisiana Midland (Coming Soon)

I also have decals for numerous SP freight cars and other things too. There are a lot more decals in work, as well as some projects for custom-run models and details parts + paint. Take a look if you are interested.

And I'll use this opportunity to put in a plug for the 3D Central Side Slider cars - they look and operate great. I ran this newly-finished Amador Central car in my train all weekend at a recent La Mesa operating session and it ran flawlessly the whole time. While they are kits, they go together well and are fun to build.

There are some real interesting protypes among these decal sets. Here are a couple of them. Bottom photo is by David Smith.

Agree, Ted, there are some really cool Side Slider cars out there. Here are three more.

  • AMR 5003 leased to Simpson Timber/Arcata and Mad River. Car photographed by Robert Warren in Tampa, FL, in December of 1977. Slide from the Rod Loder Collection.
  • USLX 50297 leased to Plum Creek in Columbia Falls MT. Car photographed by George Menge in Topeka, KS, in November of 1976. Slide from my collection
  • USLX 50325 leased to Hampton Lumber. Car photographed by George Menge in Topeka, KS, in January of 1977. Slide from the Rod Loder Collection.

Decals for all three paint schemes are available now at RailTrain Hobbies

Really cool stuff Rick!  Nice work. And a very nice car for those who actually still like to 'model' out there!

Thanks for your reply Rick. This is what I get. Perhaps it has something to do with my end but don't have problems with other sites.

The railtrainhobbies link works; the other two links in the original post don't work for me.

Not sure why you're having errors like that. I checked the links above and they are working on this end.

As one who makes a living in tech, the web is a wierd place sometimes with regards to random errors. Glad you were at least able to get to the site.

Yes., that is true. When I had a website (before it was hacked) I had some that had issues (very, very few) but most could access it fine.
