CRIP La Salle 2 Christines, plus more passenger action c1967
Author: KCRW287

A film clip from La Salle Station, probably around 1967, a lot of the Rock Island includes Christine a couple of times, commuter and regular passenger trains, it is jammed packed. Another Christine shows up at the end, and no one wants to be around her. Any and all info welcome, corrections also. filmed by Jim Woodfield, my collection KCRW287

All I can offer is that the first train seen in the video is the Golden State which ran from Chicago to Los Angeles via Tucumcari, New Mexico.  It was discontinued the year after the video was made.

I don't know much else about the Rock Island, but this video was very enjoyable to watch!   Thank you for posting it.

Incredible video.  Roosevelt Road, what a vantage point.  Pretty sure there are at least a couple of Peoria Rockets in the mix, given the engine and equipment make-ups.
Thank you for sharing!

Be still my beating heart.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

The trains of my youth.
The 621 was on Peoria trains.  The film must have been taken over a couple days.
Love the scenes of them backing out to wye.

Englewood would it be possible they were still running 2 round trips daily at this point?  That was my first thought.  But he would have been out on the overpass for a LONG day!

I agree with everyone else, EXCELLENT video.  A couple shots were cut too short but I understand wanting to save expensive film.  The well known variety of paint schemes that RI was infamous for really adds to the interest, and those slope nose E-units look great, and even Christine has a very interesting look to her that would make it a treat to catch trackside.

Cute reference to the Plymouth, I wondered what you were getting at there!

Thanks for the info and looks at the video, I fugured that the 621 was on the Peoria Rocket account of seeing a pic on TO of the same type of P cars. I will have some more of Chicago station action soon. KCRW287

Thanks for the timetable links Englewood.  Looks like they were running twice a day at that time but would not have been possible for 621 to be leading all 4 with the timing in Chicago.

Correct, that is why I had said it must have been filmed over a couple of days.
