Eastern Utah coal, light engines, and SP AC44.
Author: Paniolo_man

As I drove to Eastern Utah on Saturday I stopped just west of Thistle at the crossing on the way down to Spanish Fork River Park to watch a coal train go by. Much to my surprise it had UP6318 still wearing a very faded SP paint job. I used to see these frequently, but I haven't seen any in quite a while.

After that I headed to Price where I was greeted by another coal train, this time an empty IPPX on its way to be loaded.

Interesting. I didn't think coal was being shipped from that area. Or is this through traffic from other mining areas (non-Utah)?

Great catches paniolo.  Funny that I caught UP 6236 a few weeks ago in Salt Lake and you caught 6318 this weekend in Spanish Fork Canyon.  Those sure are rare these days.
